News culture Prime Video: Movies and Series to Watch in August 2022
Before the start of the new school year, Amazon has planned something to keep you in front of your screen for August with plenty of movies and series: There are great cinematic classics that we’d clearly recommend, but also some original productions that might be worth a detour. We look at it right away.
Indiana Jones Saga
Inevitably, these relics of the seventh art are hard to miss, and with good reason: Indiana Jones has revolutionized adventure films thanks to a brilliant blend of George Lucas (Star Wars) and Steven Spielberg. Just that! For the month of August, the first four films that make up the entire saga (a fifth feature film in preparation) are available on the platform, which are Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Le Temple of Doom (1984), The Last Crusade (1989) and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008). And so we find this good old Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr., a seasoned professor of archeology who doesn’t hesitate to take the lead and search for mysterious treasures…with that touch of always shining charm. Go for it, if you haven’t already.

Frenzy: out of control
If you like high explosive Hollywood movies and not necessarily very smart Hollywood movies, Rampage: Out of Control may satisfy you. This action movie was released in 2018, however, it has the advantage of adapting, very surprisingly, an arcade video game originally released in 1986! Then we follow the adventures of Davis Okoye played by Dwayne Johnson, a primatologist who goes to see one of his favorite gorillas, George, the victim of a failed experiment: the ape will then reach a disproportionate size, just like two other animals. wolf and crocodile. Take kaiju movies, put real animals in them and make them fight in the middle of the city and you will have a very successful growling experience.

This is not a secret, but Alain Spatt has given a lot to the culture of French cinema. From the multiple sketches of Les Nuls to films like Asterix & Obelix Mission Cleopatra, the French actor and director is a force in his field and Didier and One of his not-to-be-missed films: released in 1997, and in particular, earned him the Cesar Award for Best Debut Film the following year, in 1998. So we’re in a special cult comedy where a Labrador finds himself stuck in the body of a man, played by Alan Chapatt. Then his new master (the late Jean-Pierre Bakri) finds himself stuck with his funny pet, which inevitably leads to a number of copycats and situations as comedians and celebs.

A French comedy was released in 2011 and is fairly recognizable, at times compared to visitors but in reverse: two half-brothers – one mixed, assimilated into the lower middle class and the other black, from the suburbs and unemployed – find themselves stuck in 1780 in the West Indies. A time that was not lenient with the inhabitants and the two brothers, who were opposed by everything, and then saw themselves besieged by the immediately present slave traders. A film that leaves room for humor and some religious phrases, while not setting aside its moral purpose. “A very funny comedy, not a headache but not silly”-Can we read in the press. It might be worth taking a look.

Definitely one of the great movies to watch closely. Thirteen Lives is an Amazon exclusive released on August 5th and will feature five-star casts from Colin Farrel, Viggo Mortensen, and Joel Edgerton! In the production we also find Ron Howard, the man behind the great classics like Willow, Apollo 13, From Shadow to Light, Da Vinci Code, In the Heart of the Ocean etc. and the best of them all. For once, the film tells the true story of a Thai soccer team trapped in a cave by a rainstorm. Divers with super skill and courage will face the situation before the eyes of the whole world to save the unfortunate. : We obviously hope to stick to our seat.

Rambo, the epic
Rambo is a love affair with American cinema and today it is a great stereotype of Hollywood and the Patriotic War. However, the saga is legendary, and if some movies are better than others, know that this month the entire franchise will land on Prime Video, which is the perfect opportunity to rebuild your culture. So we can find Rambo (1982), Rambo 2 The Mission (1985), Rambo 3 (1988), John Rambo (2008) and even Rambo Last Blood, released in 2019. As for the script, it is clear that Rambo was played by Stallone One of the veterans of the Vietnam War who will face many hardships and bloody ends in Asia. He even said, “It wasn’t his war.”

A League of Their Own, Saison 1 (série Amazon Original)
One of the good August surprises is likely to be on Prime Video. First of all, note that this is an Amazon-exclusive production: This series will take place at the beginning of World War II, when professional baseball players are heading to the front. In the face of lack of staff and to save the clubs and discipline itself, The club owners would then combine their forces to create a women’s baseball league, unheard of at the time. A nice trip to the United States in the 1940s with all the glamor of that time, while promoting the importance of women in society and all the societal issues they could cause at the time.

in murky waters
Shark movies, there are plenty of them and in murky waters it is a must watch if you like the genre. So we have Jason Statham out there who, with his team of researchers, will find himself next to a megalodon in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. As a reminder, megalodon is an extinct species that basically resembles a white shark the size of a huge blue whale. A fish we don’t really want on this earth anymore in 2022 but makes a great action movie, effective and entertaining, without the jaw-dropping effect of its time. Get the popcorn ready and turn up the volume, this will do the trick.

The Samaritan (Amazon Original Movie)
The Samaritan is one of the biggest movies from Amazon that will be released this month on Prime Video. As the main guest, we find nothing more and nothing less than the legendary Sylvester Stallone, in the skin of a super-guard (called a Samaritan) who supposedly disappeared twenty-five years ago against his rival Nemesis. Today, the hero hides in society in his true light, the light of Mr. Smith, the safe man that his 13-year-old neighbor will reveal. The man will then be engaged to return to duty as the city gradually plunges into chaos and crime: only to see Stallone in a superhero movie, we shall see.
